If you don't want to get carried away into editing, Comic Life also features loads of page templates and themes that you can start off with. I also quite liked the choice of filters, with which you can give a different aspect to your photos, like turning them into a scene from Sin City. All can be extensively customized to your taste from the style attributes tab on the right. Comic Life offers many shapes, forms and text lettering with styles reminiscent of the best cartoons and comics.

The most frightening movie on this list, Perfect Blue stirs up reality-bending paranoia for the audience. Perfect Blue is a heavy, unsettling dive into the depths of Japanese celebrity and consumer culture. This is the top 20 anime films of all time, period. Get ready to settle some debates once and for all. The middle section of the movie is sandwiched between the two big races at the beginning and end, which makes the more dialogue focused middle section a lot less exciting in comparison, but I think that it still does a good job building up the characters and building tension for the final race.We put together this list as a team, but majority credit goes to Tofugu's senior otaku analyst, Rich, who's written some of our most brilliantly nerdy posts. I think that this movie is an absolute masterpiece, but if I had to give at least one criticism, it would be the structure of the movie. This movie really pushes the limits with what can be achieved with animation and I think it is a must see for all fans of animated movies. Redline is and amazing experience and I recommend it to anyone and everyone that likes adrenaline filled movies. It is clear that an immense amount of effort and passion was put into every single aspect of this movie. I have watched this movie both dubbed in English and with the original Japanese voices and I can say that both casts do an equally amazing job at capturing the feelings of the characters. Another highlight is the voice performances. Each racer even has their own theme song, which helps to make them even more unique and memorable. Not only are the two main characters JP and Sonoshee both wildly entertaining, but every other racer is filled with so much personality even though many of them get very little screen time. On top of the adrenaline filled races and the beautiful animation, this movie also has a great soundtrack and memorable characters. Watching this movie is pure adrenaline, and that alone makes it worth watching. Here is a trailer to help get an idea of the amazing visual style of this movie. I don’t think I have ever seen another animated movie as technically impressive as Redline, even to this day. The film’s production took seven years because they chose traditional hand drawn animation over computer animation, and the fruits of studio Madhouse’s labors definitely show off here. The races in this movie are so beautifully animated and directed, that not a single moment goes by where I’m not blown away by just how awesome and impressive the film is. I have never been more hyped up while watching a movie than when I watched Redline. The reason why this movie is so good can be easily described in one word, and that word is “hype”. The last third of the movie shows JP and Sonoshee facing off against many other eccentric racers on Roboworld in an explosive and action-packed final race. The Redline is set to be held on Roboworld, a planet with a militaristic leader that wants nothing to do with the Redline and that vows kill all those who come into the planet unauthorized. During the Yellowline, JP faces off against Sonoshee McLaren, who goes on to get first place in the race, and becomes JP’s friendly rival for the Redline. The film opens with JP and other racers in the Yellowline, which is the preliminary race to the Redline. Redline follows JP, who hopes to win the galaxy’s biggest and most prestigious race, the Redline. This is one of the most technically impressive animated movies that I have ever seen, and it is an absolute roller-coaster ride from start to finish. I will be reviewing Takeshi Koike’s 2009 animated film Redline, and talking about why it is one of my favorite animated films of all time. Up until this point, I have been avoiding reviewing anime movies in order to show that Japanese cinema is much more than just anime, but today I would like to take some time to talk about one of my favorite anime movies of all time. Astrocade: Head to the arcade room in the Journey Into Space area, then check for power switch on the wall. Then you can use the portal in the center area to reach a new area with the punch machine. The Pack-A-Punch machine improves your weapons and imbues them with special properties (for the low-low-cost of 5000 You must activate the 4 portals around the map. Save up your cash so you can purchase things like Tuff 'Nuff or open all of the teleporters to enable the Pack-A-Punch machine. It may seem hard at first, but it's doable. It is also recommended that you hold off on opening anything for the first six or so rounds. If you do that and then periodically turn around and unload your magazine into the horde, you will rack up points like nothing. Honestly, the best way to earn money is by training the undead and getting a big horde of them chasing you. It's not recommended, but if it's your style and you're good at it go for it! This type of route running is typically useful to the players who like to throw caution to the wind. This requires a lot of spending money and focus as it requires you to open every door in the park. If running circles isn't your thing, you could also try to run through the entire park each round. Farming zombies is a key way to stay alive and earn money, but one wrong move can really put you in a poor spot. You can run in a circle around the main teleporter in the middle of the park, or you can do the same in the Kepler System. In "Zombies in Spaceland" you will find several open areas that are great for farming and training zombies. If you want slow moving zombies, it is best to keep two alive! Note, if you keep one zombie alive it will be a sprinter. As you need to board up as many windows as possible to keep the undead from flooding in too quickly at the start of the next round, try to leave two slow-moving zombies alive at the end of each round. Buy another weapon (the M4 is a reliable choice early on), then open the door into the main plaza of the park.Īs the rounds progress, the zombies will not only grow in number, but will also move faster and be more difficult to kill. In the opening few waves of a round of Zombies, focus on earning as much money in the first small area as you can. There are various perks, guns, upgrades and items scattered around Spaceland that will help you both fend off the undead horde and improve your player level. If you've never ever played a CoD Zombies mode before, here's the short version: you (and maybe some friends) have to survive wave after wave of an undead attack, which become more and more difficult the longer you survive. In 1807, English writer Benjamin Tabart published The History of Jack and the Bean Stalk, possibly actually edited by William and/or Mary Jane Godwin. Roberts in the 1734 second edition of Round About Our Coal-Fire. "The Story of Jack Spriggins and the Enchanted Bean" was published in London by J. Origins In Walter Crane's woodcut the harp reaches out to cling to the vine The giant, who is pursuing him, falls to his death, and Jack and his family prosper. Jack then escapes by chopping down the beanstalk. Outwitting the giant, Jack is able to retrieve many goods once stolen from his family, including a bag of gold, an enchanted goose that lays golden eggs and a magic golden harp that plays and sings by itself. The giant senses Jack's presence and cries, Jack climbs the beanstalk and finds himself in the castle of an unfriendly giant. Jack, a poor country boy, trades the family cow for a handful of magic beans, which grow into a massive, towering beanstalk reaching up into the clouds. Story 1854 illustration of Jack climbing the beanstalk by George Cruikshank Īccording to researchers at Durham University and Universidade Nova de Lisboa, the story originated more than five millennia ago, based on a widespread archaic story form which is now classified by folklorists as ATU 328 The Boy Who Stole Ogre's Treasure. "Jack and the Beanstalk" is the best known of the " Jack tales", a series of stories featuring the archetypal Cornish and English hero and stock character Jack. Jacobs' version is most commonly reprinted today, and is believed to be closer to the oral versions than Tabart's because it lacks the moralizing. Henry Cole, publishing under pen name Felix Summerly, popularized the tale in The Home Treasury (1845), and Joseph Jacobs rewrote it in English Fairy Tales (1890). It appeared as " The Story of Jack Spriggins and the Enchanted Bean" in 1734 and as Benjamin Tabart's moralized " The History of Jack and the Bean-Stalk" in 1807. Hamsters usually chew on twigs and wood to shorten the length of their teethĩ. To combat this, they need something to chew on to keep their teeth short. Hamsters' teeth continue to grow throughout their lifetime. There are long-haired varieties, various colours too and they're known by different names including: polar bears, honey bears, dalmatian, fancy hamster, European black bears among others. The most common type of corrective lens is "single vision", which has a uniform refractive index. Not only do they enhance the wearer's visual experience, but can also reduce problems that result from eye strain, such as headaches or squinting. Corrective eyeglasses can significantly improve the life quality of the wearer. A lensmeter can be used to verify the specifications of an existing pair of glasses. They are made to conform to the prescription of an ophthalmologist or optometrist. more refracting) lens than the other.Ĭorrective lenses bring the image back into focus on the retina. Microfiber cloth designed for cleaning corrective lenses without scratching sensitive glassĬorrective lenses are used to correct refractive errors by bending the light entering the eye in order to alleviate the effects of conditions such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hypermetropia) or astigmatism. Even with glasses used for vision correction, a wide range of fashions are available, using plastic, metal, wire, and other materials for frames. Sometimes glasses are worn purely for fashion or aesthetic purposes. Specialized glasses may be used for viewing specific visual information, for example, 3D glasses for 3D films ( stereoscopy). People with conditions that have photophobia as a primary symptom (like certain migraine disorders or Irlen syndrome) often wear sunglasses or precision tinted glasses, even indoors and at night. Most over-the-counter sunglasses do not have corrective power in the lenses however, special prescription sunglasses can be made. Typical sunglasses lenses are tinted for protection against bright light or polarized to remove glare photochromic glasses are blacked out or lightly tinted in dark or indoor conditions, but turn into sunglasses when they come into contact with ultraviolet light. Sunglasses allow for better vision in bright daylight and is used to protect one's eyes against damage from excessive levels of ultraviolet light. The loss of glasses would be detrimental to those working in these conditions. Wearers of glasses that are used only part of the time may have the glasses attached to a cord that goes around their neck to prevent the loss and breaking of the glasses. Glasses wearers may use a strap to prevent the glasses from falling off. Glasses are worn for eye protection in some sports, such as squash. Some types of safety glasses are used to protect against visible and near-visible light or radiation. Safety glasses provide eye protection against flying debris for construction workers or lab technicians these glasses may have protection on the sides of the eyes as well as in the lenses. Glasses are typically used for vision correction, such as with reading glasses and glasses used for nearsightedness however, without the specialized lenses, they are sometimes used for cosmetic purposes. Glasses, also known as eyeglasses or spectacles, are vision eyewear with lenses (clear or tinted) mounted in a frame that holds them in front of a person's eyes, typically utilizing a bridge over the nose and hinged arms (known as temples or temple pieces) that rest over the ears. Yuen said this stage mostly takes place in the first part of the night. About 15-20% of the night is spent in deep sleep. This stage helps to restore the body and boosts the immune system, creativity, and memory. It’s hard to wake up from this stage and when you do, you’re likely to feel pretty groggy. Muscle tone, heart rate, and breathing rate all decrease. The third stage of sleep is called “deep sleep” or “slow wave” sleep. This stage lasts between 10-25 minutes of each cycle, but it accounts for about half of the total sleep time. Yuen explained that stage two is characterized by the appearance of sleep spindles and K complexes on electroencephalogram, which have a lot to do with how we encode and store information that we learn during the day. “This stage is necessary for memory formation and consolidation.”ĭr. “Light sleep has an important role,” said Dr. This stage is referred to as “light sleep,” but that doesn’t mean it’s not needed. Stage 2: Light SleepĪs you move into stage two, your breathing and heart rate slow down. This is also when “hypnic jerks” happen, those involuntary contractions of muscles that sometimes feel like you’re falling. It makes up about 5-10% of total sleep time.ĭuring this stage, both brain and body activity slow down, but it’s easy to wake up. Yuen said this stage usually only lasts a few minutes, but most people go through it several times each night. The first stage of sleep happens as you close your eyes and move from being awake to sleeping. Let’s take a look at each of the four stages. The sleep stages and cycle change throughout the night. There are three other stages of non-REM sleep: stage one, when you feel drowsy and start falling asleep stage two, often referred to as light sleep and stage three, called deep sleep.Įach stage is important, but they aren’t set in stone. We spoke with Dr. You go through several sleep cycles each night. These stages combine to form a sleep cycle, but it doesn’t end there. Each night as you drift off to sleep, your brain begins going through a series of sleep stages. |
